A shocking case of cheating has come to light in Pune, where a 62-year-old woman was duped of ₹28.88 lakhs by two scammers she met on Facebook. The woman, a resident of Balewadi, filed a complaint with the Baner Police Station, following which the police registered a case of cheating against the two accused.

According to the police, the woman got in touch with the scammers on Facebook, and they gained her trust by claiming to have a solution to her daughter’s problems. The scammers told the woman that her daughter was under a curse and that they would need to perform rituals and cast a spell to remove the curse. They asked the woman to send them money, which she did, sending a total of ₹28.88 lakhs over a period of time.

However, when the woman’s daughter did not show any improvement, she realized she had been cheated. She then approached the police and filed a complaint. The case is being investigated by Assistant Police Inspector Anil Kekan.
